Blog Journal #6

 1. My initial experience with Diigo was that I was interested. I have never used a site/software that looks like it so far. However, figuring out how to use the annotation and sticky note tool was fun! I will say that the video provided doesn't match my computer, so I was confused at first, but it's easy to figure out. I like that you can put tags on your post so people know what's relevant in it. 2. My experience with blogging is mostly limited to this class. I like the idea of a blog for food reviewers or a diary, but I've never had a use for it. With the blogging process I've learned how to use Blogger and Diigo, which could be used by me as a future teacher one day. I don't know how people get their blogs to be popular though. I like that people can leave comments on blogs and posts.  3. Zoom is a very popular Web 2.0 software application used in schools. As a teacher, this could be very useful for getting in contact with parents that may not be able to mak...

 1. Instagram has always been a useful tool for my PLN. It's an app that many other college studetns have, so I am able to get in contact with group members and peers for various assignments and resources. For this class I have been using Instagram to follow some classmates and trending teacher accounts. Twitter could be useful for coming across teaching resources and information. As a teacher, Twitter could also be useful for finding current news and protests to attend. 2. The digital divide is a very serious problem that affects many students nationwide. Not all students have access to computers, laptops, phones, or internet in general. This can make it very difficult to complete homework at home, access textbooks, study, and contact others. A major cause of the digital divide is poverty, which is then exacerbated by the digital divide as more privileged students use their resources and disadvantaged students fall behind. As a classroom teacher, I would like to make my classroom ...

1. For this section, I chose grade levels 3-5 Standard 4 SC.35.CS-CS.4.1. This standard refers to identifying the basic components of a computer like the monitor, keyboard, and mouse. I feel like I know the basic components of computers very well and could accurately convey that information to my classroom. The only aspects I don't know are the side ports for USBs and other things. But, anything I'm not sure of is information I can easily find.  2. I selected 9-12 Social Studies for this part of the assignment. I think knowing the actual standards required for a class/exams is important because I can design my instruction around them. It's very helpful to have concise requirements because I can know exactly what is needed. The many lesson plans available can be used in class or as a way to inspire my own lesson plan. I imagine it will be difficult for me to come up with a creative lesson plan for every aspect of AP Psychology when I'm a teacher, so that will be very hel...

1. Many copyrighted work is permitted for teaching and education under fair use. As a teacher, I will have to navigate what work is alright to use and make sure I follow any laws, but I don't forsee that being a huge issue. I hope to make my content and assessments according to what is required for the course, and making my own classroom material in this way should therefore avoid using copyrighted work. Developing my own instructional materials will also prevent students from just googling all the answers, so there are multiple benefits to that.  2. Certainly, with the increased use of technology, academ ic dishonesty is easier than ever. I could use a program like TurnItIn to check students work and make sure it's not plagiarized. I think making sure students know the repercussions to cheating is the best way to avoid it, and I would also want to make sure my students understand how them cheating affects their grades and peers, since it could affect any curve in the class. I ...
